Labiaplasty in Bellevue, WA

Overview

Women now have several options available when it comes to transforming the appearance of the outer genitalia through labiaplasty, or vaginal rejuvenation. While procedures have been improved, the surgery usually involves reshaping and resizing the labia through skin removal and tightening. Seattle area plastic surgeon, Dr. Marosan, prefers the wedge resection technique, which is based off a woman’s unique anatomy to produce superior results. The excess tissue around the labia is removed in a way to preserve the natural color, normal labial edge and natural look of the area.

Dr. Marosan is skilled in treating various parts of the vulva or external genitalia and vagina to restore a woman’s confidence and alleviate any anxiety associated with her appearance.

Labiaplasty typically takes between 1-2 hours to complete, depending on how complex the surgical case is. It is performed under local anesthesia in our accredited surgical facility  offering complete privacy. Women who undergo labia rejuvenation will need to avoid any activity that may cause swelling and bleeding, such as exercise, sexual activity, douching, and the use of tampons. These activities can be resumed slowly around 4-6 weeks post-op. Women find that the results of this procedure look so natural that their self-confidence and self-image are improved drastically.

Labiaplasty & perineoplasty 07/17/19 - I have had a long labia minora probably since I went through puberty and it has bothered me not only looks wise but also rubbing on clothing and uncomfortable. After I had 2 vaginal childbirths the labia became very lopsided (see pictures) and I have a lot of loose stretched skin around the perineal area. The loose skin in the perineal area is also bothersome as it tends to get pulled and aggravated during sex (also the long labia get in the way) and I am VERY self conscious of the way everything looks down there! I went for a labiaplasty consultation but the dr. pointed out the redundant skin in the perineal area (which is not addressed by a labiaplasty). After researching the issue on RealSelf, I realized that I would also need a perineoplasty to fix things. I am scheduled for surgery 07/17/19.

360 Lipo with BBL and Hip Fat Transfer - 42 years old, 5'8, 150lbs, 2 kids. I had a Tummy tuck about 4 years ago, and had some lipo done at the same time. I am fairly fit, and didn't have too much body fat. However, as I have gotten older, I have noticed more back fat, my "curves" have been slowly going away (I used to have an hourglass figure in my youth), and I had love handles I wanted to get rid of. I also had this "shelf" like thing from my Tummy Tuck scar that really annoyed me. I also had the "violin" deformity, or the hip dips that I wanted to fix. So I was really excited to get a BBL/hip aug and the 360 sculpting. I am also planning on getting a labiaplasty and Renuvion with lipo to my legs 2 weeks after my first procedure. I'll do a separate review for the labiaplasty. I went with Dr. Marosan, as I had a friend that went to him that was thrilled with her results. I have to say that I am SO happy that I went with him!! Dr. Marosan is so skilled at what he does. I wish I had done my tummy tuck with him 4 years ago. He is also really down to earth and funny, and I immediately felt comfortable with him. And his assistant, Sarah, and the admin, Marci, are great. I am currently 6 days post-op, so I will post some before pics and a little more info in my next review!

Labiaplasty and Thermiva - At 47 years old, I'd dealt with the discomfort of oversized labia for far too long. I met with Dr. Marosan and his staff and decided to do labiaplasty and then Thermiva. It has been a life-changer for me. Wearing underwear was ALWAYS uncomfortable, but going without was worse. It's amazing how removing a small part of your body makes such a difference. I'm now dressing with ease, and even started running. The entire team here is top-notch. I wholeheartedly recommend them to any woman thinking about labiaplasty.

Dr Marosan gave me results beyond what I imagined - I had a labiaplasty procedure and went to 3 consultations before choosing Dr. Marosan. First of all, many other doctors in this field charge you for a consultation fee; just to be seen and voice your concerns. Which in turn almost creates a feeling of obligation to go there since you paid the consult fee - regardless if you like the doctor or not. Dr. Marosan did not charge a consult fee, and, he was the only doctor to come into the room and show me his work via pictures and actually took the time to explain the procedure gave me a tour of the operating room to explain the surgical process. I never received that courtesy from any other office. I was able to schedule the procedure within that month and Dr Marosan gave me results beyond what I imagined! I feel so much prettier, so much more feminine - just wow, really, WOW, enough cannot be said. Another thing is, for a plastic surgeon with so many awards and accolades he is incredibly humble. He was the top Plastic Surgeon of 2020 and has received many years of specialty body sculpting training. His work is incredible, he's talented beyond belief, and yet, he and his entire team took the time to personalize my experience and treat me as if I were their only patient. I cannot express how thankful I am to have chosen Dr. Marosan. So for anyone reading this MAKE sure to put this office on your consult list and you will see for yourself the difference.

The entire process went very smoothly and I ended up getting the results I wanted - I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Marosan and his amazing team! He was able to answer all my questions thoroughly before my surgery and eased all my worries. The operation went smoothly and I was comfortable the entire time. In regards to the results of the procedure, I couldn’t be happier. Overall the entire process went very smoothly and I ended up getting the results I wanted. I definitely recommend going to Dr. Marosan if you’re considering a labiaplasty!

Surgical Technique

Women who are considering labiaplasty should consult with a qualified board certified plastic surgeon. In the past, before surgeons improved this procedure, the approach was to remove the excess tissue and skin deformity using an amputation method. Today, skilled surgeons use aesthetic reshaping techniques so that the labia are not only reduced in size, but also the nerves are protected in the process so that sexual function is not compromised. A surgeon with experience will preserve the natural color and contour and create a result that looks visually appealing with minimal to no scarring.

Labiaplasty Surgical Process

The surgeon will carefully work to reshape and reconstruct the lips so that they meet the patient’s aesthetic goals. Dissolvable sutures are used to close the incision. Another approach is to use the THERMIva, radiofrequency non invasive technique to reduce the labia majora skin looseness and tighten the clitoral hood. This is effective for some patients, but is only recommended in cases where the skin excess is minimal. THERMIva can reduce the size of the labia majora, tighten the vaginal canal and increase lubrication and correct minor stress incontinence. There is no downtime, a woman can have sex the same night. This is a great treatment for perimenopausal women, or women who had breast cancer and are on anti-estrogen therapy which causes vaginal dryness and painful sexual intercourse.

OBGYN or PLASTIC Surgeon?

When researching the aesthetic surgery market, most patients will find that a large majority of cosmetic surgeons offer labiaplasty. While some OB-GYNs and plastic surgeons are trained in performing female genital cosmetic rejuvenation, most are not! Most OB-GYNs will be able to surgically remove any excess that exists within the labia most commonly using the amputation or linear trim method; however, a plastic surgeon will consider the aesthetics as well. The most important decision is not how much tissue to remove, but how much tissue to leave behind, so it will not appear that you had a surgical alteration. This ensures that scarring is minimal, and color, contour and symmetry looks and feels natural. Often the excess clitoral hooding needs to be addressed during the labiaplasty and Dr. Marosan finds that a lot of surgeons do not correct this due to lack of experience. Your surgeon should have at least 50 labiaplasties under his/her belt before signing up with them. This area does not tolerate mistakes, an over resection is difficult to correct or it is simply not correctable. This is one surgical area where you want to choose an expert and not make your decision based on cost only or the promise that your ob-gyn will get insurance coverage for you. This is an unforgiving area if it is done poorly, it might not be fixable.

Does it Cause Insensitivity?

As with any surgery, there may be numbness in the vaginal area after the procedure is completed. This is temporary as the skin and vaginal lips heal. In regards to sensitivity, it is important to understand that labia rejuvenation affects, for the most part, the vaginal lips only. Sensitivity is also served by the clitoris. A skilled plastic surgeon that specializes in labiaplasty will work around this area so that a loss of sensitivity does not occur.

Does it Affect Intercourse?

Labiaplasty, when performed by a skilled plastic surgeon, will only improve sexual intercourse. In many cases, this is because the excess skin and tissue that may have gotten in the way during sex before will be gone. The clitoral region will be protected and the sensory nerves preserved so that sexual intercourse is not impacted in a negative way. After a labiaplasty, patients feel more relaxed, less self conscious and report increased sexual pleasure with their partners.

Before or After Pregnancy?

Pregnancy does not affect labial size usually. In our practice, most women are in their 20s and 30s and do not have any children. In women who had previous vaginal deliveries, there's no increase in the size of the labia vs the nulliparous women. Dr. Marosan has done labiaplasty surgery in as young as 15 years old (with parental consent), due to the extremely large labia for which the patient was self conscious, could not participate in certain sports or shower after gym in the presence of other girls.
